Results from business events organiser Tarsus emphatically demonstrate its resilience in the face of the slackening economy. In the seasonally quieter first half to 30 June it reported a 28% increase in turnover to £14.3m, with like-for-like revenues also ahead by 12%. Meanwhile, underlying pretax profit rose 33% to £1.6m, while adjusted eps were 0.8p. Importantly, forward bookings remain strong and mean that 78% of this year's budgeted forecasts are now contracted. In the US revenue increased 7% to £4.1m, with profit up by £0.1m to £1.3m.
