In a pre-close update covering its financial year to 31 July, online market research firm YouGov notes that revenues grew to over £40m as a result of acquisitions made during the year. However, although gross margins will be a little ahead of expectations it has decided to invest more heavily than originally expected in infrastructure to support further growth, amounting to an additional £2m a year. YouGov is also taking a one-off charge relating to an aborted acquisition and the result is that it expects to report an adjusted operating profit of £8.5m.  Contrary to some fears we don't believe the business model is broke, although management have been cack-handed in their inability to manage consistent year-on-year growth. ...
