Like PZ Cussons, Informa, the business publisher and events organiser, is another New Year Nap performing well right now with the shares hitting their highest level since its rights issue in May. The company put out a statement noting that trading remains in line with expectations for the period to 30 June in spite of challenging trading conditions. Its publishing business, which accounts for over 60% of profit, has continued to grow with efficiency savings helping to increase operating profit margins. Meanwhile its events and training division has seen a fall in underlying revenues but this is mainly down to management shutting down the more marginal events in response to weak demand in order to protect overall profitability.
