Shares in litigation funding specialist, Burford, raced to a new high above £11 fuelled by  interim results showing a terrific 151% increase in operating profit to US$155m, a full 63% above broker Liberum’s forecast. Litigation investment income grew 148% to US$161m, while record new commitments of US$488m were made.The shares had earlier spiked when two of its investments struck gold. The first consists of a claim alleging misappropriation of two airlines by the Argentine Government; costing Burford just US$13m it could be worth US$140m following a successful tribunal ruling.
