CAML’s Q2 operating update revealed copper down 2% year-on-year to 3,300 tonnes, but lead (down 10%) and zinc (minus 9%) fell more sharply, due to management having to switch to lower grade ore due to poor ground conditions. This is a drawback of the current mining method which, as I flagged in my original write-up, is being replaced by a new “cut-and-fill” method over the next four years. As a result, management said production for the year will be at the low end of the range.More positively, broker VSA Capital has upgraded full year EBITDA forecasts by 12% to almost US$133m, and by 10% to US$135.3m for FY’22, giving eps of 45 cents (32.4p) and 46 cents (33p).
